Firstly we had a coffee at the Oxford Wine Center which was really delightful. You can sit inside or out in a small, courtyard garden sipping coffee or wine with snacks, cakes or a full meal. The indoor area was light and bright with floor to ceiling windows so very pleasant......the decor was interesting with wine related pictures and plaques. I would spend a lot of time here if I lived in Summertown!
We found the path which was easy walking. It was fascinating seeing all the sections that backed onto the canal and how they used the river. Some had beautifully set up dining and BBQ areas, while others made poor use of such a wonderful feature.
Oxford is such a pretty historic town. We wandered around, had lunch and caught the bus back to Summertown.
Another Beautiful Oxford River Walk
Bill Clinton came here for lunches when visiting his daughter apparently. Closed when we arrived, we walked beside the river with cows grazing and more boats ploughing the river.
The ruins of the Nunnery …..once a hideaway for Henry 8ths mistress and two children., were reduced to an outside wall and the shell of the church. Another full lock was further down. Eventually with time catching up we returned and took our picnic down by the river to watch the geese and boats while we enjoyed lunch and a lot more chat.
Then it was back and off to London to see the live show "Matilda".
